What Skerrick is
Skerrick is an app for iOS and Android that limits how long you spend in the apps you choose. It is a tool you choose to install and can remove at any time. It is not a parental control product, not a security product, and not a medical device. It makes no claim to diagnose, treat or help with any condition.
It has not shipped
At the time of writing, Skerrick is in development. Nothing on this site links to an app store because there is nothing to download yet. Descriptions here describe what is being built, and details may change before release.
The waitlist
Giving us an email address puts you on a list to be told when the app is out. It is not an order, it does not reserve anything, and it commits neither of us to anything. You can ask to be removed at any point. What we do with the address is set out in the privacy notice.
Using the app
You may use Skerrick on devices you own or control, for your own purposes. You may not resell it, rent it out, or present it as your own product. You may not attempt to break it in ways that would affect other people, which in practice means our servers rather than your phone. What you do with your own copy on your own device is your business.
Money
The free tier
One feed of your choice is free, indefinitely, with the full mechanic. It is not a trial and we are not planning to take it away. If that ever changes, anyone already using it will be told first.
Subscriptions
- Skerrick Pro is £4.99 a month or £29.99 a year.
- The annual plan begins with 14 days free. Cancel within those 14 days and you are not charged. The monthly plan has no free trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel beforehand.
- Billing is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never see or hold your payment details.
- Cancelling is done in your store’s subscription settings. We cannot do it for you. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy, not by us. If a store declines and you think that is unfair, tell us and we will see what we can do.
Prices shown on this site are in pounds sterling and include UK VAT. Your store may charge a different local price.
What we do not promise
We will try to keep Skerrick working, and we cannot guarantee it always will. The app depends on operating system features that Apple and Google control and change, and on the internal structure of apps built by other companies who are under no obligation to keep them stable. A platform change can break a feature without warning.
We also do not promise a result. Skerrick will call time when the ration runs out. Whether that changes how you use your phone depends on you, and anyone in this category who promises otherwise is overselling.
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and nothing here affects your statutory consumer rights.
Your content and ours
Skerrick does not collect your content, so there is nothing of yours for us to claim. The app, this website, the name and the design belong to us.
Ending it
You can stop using Skerrick whenever you like by deleting it. If you turned backup on, delete the backup from the You tab first, because deleting the app does not remove the copy or the account on our server. We may suspend access to paid features if a payment fails or if someone is actively abusing the service, and we would rather email you about it first.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the change will be announced here and, for anything significant, by email to people on the waitlist or using the app.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under your own local law.
